I have an obsession with creepy victorian kids, and I can’t help it! I have been making ooak dolls for six years and Violet is definitely the one that has had more sewing involved. She has been completely handsewn using tea-dyed vintage cotton and lace (I dyed them myself), silk ribbon, beads, brass ornaments and dark flesh silk (on bonnet and inside of the skirt).
The doll was assembled using parts of different vintage vinyl dolls and painted to an antique brass effect patina. About 20 cms. tall and less than a pound in weight.

I would also like to show you this cuff, now its owner has finally received it! I wanted it to be a surprise and, since I know she reads the blog, I couldn’t show it until she got it in her hands. Actually, making this piece started the inspiration for the new shop line – this and watching the two seasons of Carnivale in a row, a tv show after my own heart that has gone directly to my top tv shows list
.
Here’s a Carnivale video from YouTube – get ready to be instantly hooked!
