…to Reverend Carolina Gonzalez, ordained minister of the Universal Life Church!

This morning I received my confirmation email for my ordination, and in a few days I will receive my credentials. The Universal Life Church is a REAL Church based in Modesto, California, which is open to all faiths and where all priesthoods are accepted without questions. I found their website through a member of one of my Witchcraft groups and applied for ordination, as only your personal data is asked for their records.

This Church is giving a chance to priests of all non-official churches in the world to belong to a real organization and provides real credentials that can be purchased at their site, though this is optional as ordination is completely free. They also provide an online forum for priests of all churches to meet online and speak freely of their work, life, and the complexity and responsibility of clergy.

Why did I do this, you may ask? First, because I doubt I will ever belong to a Church as Hoodoo is not an organized cult. The only church I would belong to is one that accepts my word and work as enough reference to ordain me.

Second, because I AM a full-time Witch, have been for 20 years, and I can stand for the word that I am a spiritual counsellor, a healer and in most ways my life is exactly the same than the life of any other Reverend of any other organized church.

Third, because this will be the only real credential that I will ever get as there is nothing like this in Spain. And let’s be honest – my clients will feel reassured by this credentials, as they are completely legal and allow me to perform ceremonies in their name.

This definitely won’t change MY life, as I will keep doing the same things, the same way. But definitely it will change the way I am perceived by others, and that is not a small thing! Who knows what changes this may bring! If you are interested in applying for ordination, just visit their website because as I have said above ordination is completely FREE, no questions asked. BUT be honest! Credentials don’t make a priest/ess of you.

Fire – Original ATC

P1010008
Water – Original ATC

P1010005
Earth – Original ATC

P1010006

One of a kind ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards), painted with acrylics on fine arts grey cardboard and backed with a signature+date certificate. As all ATC’s, this piece measures 2,5 x 3,5 inches. As acrylics are very light resistant, it can be framed (my advice is without glass), or presented as it is, as this cardboard is very thick and the piece won’t bent.

No prints will be made of this pieces EVER. Though I keep copyright of the piece, the buyer will be its exclusive owner.

Herbal Diary – A Handmade OOAK Book Of Shadows

This Book Of Shadows is made for the Green and Kitchen Witches; 128 A5 pages (that 11 x 15 cms/ 4,5 x 5,8inches),
including 8 printed pages with antique botany images of essential magickal herbs – rosemary, ginger, mistletoe, wormwood, star anise, nightshade, peppermint and sage.
The book has been handsewn, reinforced with a suede covered spine, and the cover is made from one piece of vintage upcycled chestnut suede. The suede has been handpainted and guilded with gold paint and is soft as butter! It has an incredibly soft and warm touch.
This is a wonderful book for all herbal notes, recipes, and even for drawing on them, as the paper is acid-free and very resistant. The book is signed on the back with gold paint. As the covers are really soft, I wouldn’t recommend this book for outdoors use; I actually make my outdoors sketches on a regular notepad and then transfer them at home on my “good” Book Of Shadows.
This is a unique piece that won’t be repeated. I have another set of pages in the same design ready for binding, but the cover design won’t be the same.

You can find these items at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

Once again, this blog receives the same award twice in the same week! Many, many thanks to Pagan In The Rough and The Vintage Sage for including us in your favourite creative blogs – this is such a honour!!!

Now, here are the rules:
1.) Thank the person who gave this to you.
2.) Copy the logo and place it in your blog.
3.) Link the person who nominated you.
4.) Name 7 things about yourself that no one would really know.
5.) Nominate seven ‘Kreativ Bloggers.’
6.) Post links to the seven blogs you nominate.
7.) Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them.

Ok, seven things about me that you may not know:
- I have read “The Neverending Story” by Michael Ende about 30 times, but I hate the movie. Still waiting that Guillermo Del Toro makes his own version.
- I have never been outside Spain. Many people think I’m from somewhere else because of my English, but the truth is that I have learnt mostly from listening to music.
- I cannot drive because I suffer a case of dislexia that makes me interchange left and right directions. I am very easily disoriented inside supermarkets, shopping malls, underground parkings, and anywhere where I cannot see outside.
- My husband calls me “the bloodhound witch” because I have a highly developed sense of smell. I have woken up in the middle of the night because a thrash bin was burnt three blocks away from my house.
- I don’t own a cellphone, or high heel shoes, or a watch, and I hardly ever wear make-up or bra LOL. Our only watch is the computer one.
- My dream house would be an old farm on a deserted plain, without any neighbours around. Something that does not exist in this island LOL.
- I learnt how to use Photoshop in two days, but I have not learnt to use my washing machine yet. No matter how many times my husband explains it to me, I always forget again.

Now, my nominated blogs are these – I only nominated 5 because I have recently nominated more friends on my last award and didn’t want to nominate people twice.

I was asked by a reader to make a post on this plant – quite a pleasure as this is one of the most used medicinal herbs in the Canary Islands. My grandmother Angelita used to wake us (my sister and I) up with a teacup of this herb before breakfast, so this post brings back so many sweet memories!

epazote
Chenopodium Ambrosioides – also called Jesuit’s Tea, Mexican Tea, American Wormseed.
Part used: Leaves and young stems.
Gardening Tips: needs full sun, south orientation and a sandy soil with good draining. On colder climates it is an annual plant that regrows from its own seeds, but in warmer climates or kept in a greenhouse it is a perennial plant. If planted directly in soil, it is a good idea to plant it in a contained space, as its roots spread like a plague as it happens to peppermint.

Medicinal Properties And Uses:
Epazote is used mainly on digestive issues. It is a wonderful herb for indigestion, or after big meals to help the digestive system work properly. In my personal experience, epazote makes an awesome tincture for all digestive matters, and it is also steeped in liquors as part of the “Parra”, a traditional digestive herbal drink that is used to finish huge meals.

It has been used for many generations, along with Wormwood (Artemisa Absynthia), to treat intestinal parasites of all kind. Though the risk of having internal parasites in children is nowadays very low, pets with internal or external parasites will also benefit from this plant – you can powder it and sprinkle your pet’s bed, or give your pet a bath and after it atomize the infusion over the pet’s body, always avoiding the head. Powdered on your carpets, again along with Wormwood and/or Fennel (Foeniculum Vulgare) is a deadly enemy to fleas – just powder your carpet, let it sit for ten minutes and vacuum.

It is given to children on small doses (one teacup is more than enough, one cup for adults) and, as most medicinal herbs, it should not be ingested more than three days in a row – though this is hardly ever necessary, as one cup can relax even the most upset stomach. It is also of great help for vomiting and diarrhea. Measure a teaspoon of dry herb per cup – that is, 1/2 teaspoon for children, and add it to a cup of boiling water. Let sit for 7 minutes, strain and drink hot o cold. Sugar is optional.

Magical Properties:

This plant is mainly used in protection, hex-breaking and road-opening spells – as always, the magickal properties are analogic to the medicinal ones. Epazote helps us digest the obstacles in life and removes spiritual parasites. It makes a wonderful smudge/spray for getting rid of residual negativity from our houses – it is highly recommended to smudge/spray the house with it after situations that are highly stressful for the whole family, like after a family member’s death, after a divorce, etc.

This is a plant that is also highly related to the world of the Dead, so a cup of its tea will make a wonderful offering in your ancestor’s altar, or when asking for help to those who have crossed over to the world of spirits. A bundle of dry epazote is a wonderful protection to keep nightmares caused by spirits away, and to protect indigo children from spiritual attacks.

The original piece was painted with colour pencils, acrylic paints and metallic paints over fine arts grey cardboard. The whole piece was re-drawn with designer markers, to add a comic book style to the illustration.
Depicts a Horned Goddess, surrounded by two female figures, representing the ying/yang duality, and the horned god’s skull lies under her, as a symbol of her power over death and reencarnation.
I painted this for my husband, who is a Horned Goddess devotee, and he agreed that the painting was shared here. Of course, the copy you will receive won’t have any watermarks!
10×15 cms/ 4×6 inches, printed in high quality photographic paper, with enough border on all sides for framing. All prints will be numbered and signed by me. All prints come with a regular size white envelope.

You can find this print at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

Handcarved Kitchen Witch Spoon – SOLD

This gorgeous herb spoon was carved by my husband after my design on a whole piece of pine wood. The design of this kind of spoon, which is wider and deeper than a regular spoon, and that is used to get scoops of herbs/powders/resins from a jar or bag, was origined in my own experience: we found a set of ceramic chinese bowls and spoons for soup, and I purchased it because of the spoons. It has been one of the most usefuls tools I have ever found, so I asked my husband to recreate some in wood, which is more durable and less subject to breakage than ceramics.
The piece measures 12 cms long per 3 cms at its widest point – that is 4,6 x ,12 inches. It has been sealed several times with olive oil and it has NOT been varnished, so it’s perfectly food safe.

Meteor – Hand Sewn Primitive Pouch

Going on with our primitive theme for this fall, we present you this beautiful little pouch to be filled with your favourite witchy finds!
The pouch has been COMPLETELY hand sewn from start to finish; the outside fabrics are ivory and purple cotton canvas, and the inside a cotton+acrylic mix with stripes in different tones of brown and ivory. Though it has a vintage carey (tortoishell) button on the cover, it is only decorative, as I though it would be more resistant to use with a snap closure.
The front has been embroidered with purple cotton thread and dark copper beads, simulating primitive stars. As you can see, it fits perfectly a playing card (or small Tarot) deck: exact measurements are 13 x 10 cms – that’s 5 x 3,8 inches.

You can find both items, and many more, at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

A Long Day :)

Here I am, writing today’s post at 01:00 PM. I had another Tarot session today, not too many clients but I was visited by friends and ended up having a wonderful time meeting new kindred souls and enjoying the presence of people I sincerely like – and that could be boosters to my local business, as they are the creators of a gay-friendly community of small businesses. I have always been very close to the gay and lesbian community in the islands, and I do my readings on a gay-friendly bar (that gay-friendly term is so ridiculous to me, but that’s how things are!!!), so that community is a big part of both my personal life and my clientèle. The idea of small businesses helping each other with a common goal – making all businesses thrive in this economy – is something we want to be a part of, without a doubt.

I have several custom orders to fill this week, posts to write (I haven’t forgotten about your request, Naedys :) ) an interview to answer (you’ll know about it as soon as published) and I would like to start a new doll this week as someone I have met is very interested in helping me market them -yay! So, I may be a little off, but pics of the process of my crazy life are always assured LOL…here you have two more that I uploaded yesterday:

My latest painting, Enchanted Forest: made over a hideous clown painting that my husband found in the thrash bin. I repainted the frame too, which was a dull pine green. I made it about a week ago – while I was decorating today, I thought it was perfect for the patio.

More Fall Decor: just under the painting, on the patio. An iron basket with apples, peaches, pomegranates and dry herbs; my Moroccan tea set and a traditional Canarian clay tea set.

Talk to you soon!!!!
