Peppers (delicious!), super-hot jalapeños, and a lovely triple onion that I will add to the Goddess altar on Samhain. All of this was grown in regular plant pots, from heirloom organic seeds from our in-laws own crops, on a roof garden where there is no planting soil at all – a proof of urban gardening that tastes like heaven! The jalapeños will make a gorgeous jar of “Mojo” (pronounced Mo-ho), which is our own tabasco-like sauce -here on the islands, due to our hot and dry weather, we have some of the hottest peppers in Europe! Very soon we will harvest melons, tomatoes are in bloom and there will be a second (and even a third) pepper and jalapeño harvests next month. I love my little magickal garden! Here are some pics I took this morning:

Yemanya’s Palm, growing wonderfully. The palm bulb was brought by a witch friend on Yemanya’s day (Aug 15), and it was nothing but a dry ball of palm root. It took almost a month to see its first leave, and now nothing can stop her!

Borage, grown from seed – we didn’t know this would grow so well here, but there’s already another seedling pot growing.

Catnip, grown from seeds from the island of Las Palmas, also doing very good and already attracting my witchy cat girls.

Peppermint, grown for cuttings from Fernando’s parents, spreading like a plague on every pot :).

Baby Basil, grown from seeds from a friend – love the light in this image!

Our Papaya trees, growing wonderfully after the last transplant. Love the shape of the leaves.

African violets in full bloom – I see a gorgeous violet flower tea in the near future!

Oh I love your garden! The last photo of the violets looks like a watercolor painting. I’m already looking forward to Spring when I can start planting herbs again. :) We’re still harvesting a few peppers and, though I continue harvesting basil and sage, there’s still a pretty good bit of it out there. I so enjoy that you’re growing it all on a roof in pots!
WOW! Caro! I’m green with good old jealousy. I want a garden so bad. Right now is cold in NY and I live in an apartment that doesn’t get a whole lot of light. But I will make it work, I’ll think of a way of growing some things–even if I have to use grow lights.
Thanks ladies!
Magaly, you can grow many beautiful plants indoors that take up very little space, like succulents, orchids, moss terrariums…go for it! It’s really, really rewarding.
Beautiful garden! I especially like the picture of the Papaya trees!
Thanks Motheralice!
Hi Carolina ~ Your harvest looks wonderful , great pics. I’m going to be harvesting the last of my jalapenos tomorrow. I would love to know how you make your Mojo sauce , if you would like to share your recipe. My hubby and I love hot sauces , I’d love to try yours.
~ Autumn Blessings ~
Of course Joyce, I will ask my mother-in-law for the recipe she uses and I will post it soon :).
It looks so lovely!
