About twelve years ago, a friend who’s an amazing crafter introduced me to leather crafts. That was B.I. (Before Internet), so I learnt the traditional ways from her. She taught me to sew it, tool it and dye it along a whole week workshop that was one of the most wonderful crafting experiences I have ever had, and one of the main reasons that I am a crafter myself. By that time, I was pretty poor and supplies were very hard to find so I couldn’t make much more for several years; luckily that has changed, and since Fernando wanted to learn about it, I took out my leather supplies (recently upgraded by an awesome friend who gave me a bag of really beautiful leather scraps) and started designing pieces for the shop.

Each one of these pieces is unique and won’t be repeated, though I am open to recreate them once sold; they are made in cowhide leather of first quality, unused. They are handsewn and handpainted, using motifs inspired in English 17th century embroidery and woodwork. The paint has been sealed, but it is not waterproof, so be gentle to them :). These are perfect for gemstones, small bottles, amulets, relics, etc. They measure 8 (at widest point) x 9 cms; that is 3,1 x 3,5 inches. The string for closure is handcut of the same type of leather, and each pouch in this series feature a cowrie shell wrapped in copper, as a symbol of abundance and good luck.
We have more pieces in the making that you will be seeing shortly :). You can find these pouches at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

These are stunning.
Thanks!!!
