Yesterday I added the first 20-something listings for our second Etsy shop, Velvet Soul Jewelry, which as you know will be dedicated to (obviously) jewelry, but soon we will have other “beautifying” products like wool dreads, hair ornamentation, handmade bindis and much more! I will try to list almost everyday, so stay tuned for more pretties! I am very happy to say that we have already made our first sale – a good sign, don’t you think? Here’s some more eye-candy:

Guinea feather earrings, in many different colours…

Wire-wrapped jewelry – I love it with a passion…

And of course lots of rockabilly/punk/gothic jewelry for the wildest ladies!

Busy Week Ahead
Posted in Customized OOAK Dolls, Everyday Life on June 28, 2010 | 3 Comments »
Honestly, I am not sure if I will be able to post much this week. My birthday is next Sunday and I have a big party to plan since it is the first time in years that all my friends and family are here in Tenerife at the same time – so we have a lot of cooking and cleaning ahead. My dearest Witch in the world is coming from Madrid next Thursday – and not only she will bring help, but also trouble, witchy trouble hehe… late Tarot nights, maybe a good ouija session (my brother wants to try), definitely some henna and even more definitely some wildharvesting…
Also, we are already working on the building of our second Etsy shop, which will be only for jewelry and other body adornments. I have a real ton of pictures to edit today to start the listings and lots of not-so-fun business stuff to make (tagging, inventorizing, listing…phew). Any updates will be going here as writing two blogs would be too much for this little Witch, so you won’t miss any detail ;) .

I finally found time to finish my mother-in-law’s birthday gift – her birthday is right after mine so I have been working intermittently on a doll for her for the last couple of weeks… I have tried to work by her taste instead of doing my own thing as I think she wouldn’t like one of my fantasy dolls, and believe me, it has not been easy! I am satisfied with the result, though – isn’t she lovely after all?

New OOAK Customized Doll Available – Storm Conjurer

There was a time when the Canary Islands were believed to be the remnants of the Atlantis continent. In our modern world, Atlantis has become a symbol of Evolution and Spirituality, as it was believed that the citizens of Atlantis lived in a higher state of conscience than ours. This myth, that has fascinated man since Plato to this very day, is the origin of this collection of dolls.
The Islands are indeed a paradise, in many ways. The constant presence of the Atlantic Ocean, which has created both serene and wild beaches, and our unique geography, always growing around volcanoes, are the inspiration for the colour and texture choices; from the dream-like landscapes around the higher peaks, to the black sand beaches embraced by a dark roaring ocean, going through our forests, which are a Pleistocene relic, I am constantly surrounded by visions of magic.
The fact that Tenerife has the second biggest Carnival in the world has also been a main influence for me. Growing in a family of painters and seamstresses, costumes were always around, either for us or for other family members. I remember watching with awe the Carnival Queen contest through all my childhood, and still today I am a big follower of the work of those designers and the expertise of the crafters.
The Atlantis Dolls collection is made entirely with vintage porcelain dolls as a start. I have been customizing and sculpting dolls for eight years, and so far this type of doll is my favourite; the idea of turning a discarded toy into a unique piece of art is the real trigger for my inspiration. The average time of making ONE doll is of 60 hours for small dolls and up to a hundred on bigger dolls.
Customizing Process:
- Complete removal of hair, clothes and face features of the doll. The face is repainted and any tattoos and other body art is painted;
- Complete HANDSEWN dress and accessories, that include full underwear, lined and embroidered dress, lined and embroidered collar and crown;
- New tibetan Mohair wig;
- Custom leather boots with gold paint ornamentation;
- Custom papier mache and wood stand, adorned with real shells and microbeads.
- The doll measures 23 cms/ almost 9 inches, without the stand.
You can find this doll for sale at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

Happy Solstice To All Our Readers! (And Our Crazy Week)
Posted in Everyday Life, Handmade OOAK Jewelry on June 21, 2010 | 5 Comments »
Fernando and I would like to wish a VERY HAPPY AND MAGICKAL SOLSTICE to all our readers, online friends and customers worldwide! Don’t forget to feed the Fairies/Gnomes/Little Folk and to use the power of Fire to burn away everything you want to leave behind! –
Sorry for the lack of posts this week but we are having quite a busy time here in Hoodooville. As I said in last post, we are inventorizing our jewelry supplies – not an easy task when you have been making jewelry for years and years! We have enough pieces to open a shop and we are actually considering using one of my Etsy accounts to open an online jewelry shop, since the Jewelry Sale we have made this month has brought a lot of sales – and because making jewelry is one of the most relaxing activities for this Witch :) . But before that, we must inventorize everything for our local sales, which are almost a 100% of our local earnings since I am not making Tarot readings anymore – and that includes not only making a list of everything available, but revising packaging, prices, displays… those of you who attend fairs know well what I’m talking about.
It’s been one of those weeks that you feel you have been constantly interrupted by… well, life. We have rescued a kitten that my best friend found near her home – he must be around 40 days old and he is in perfect health. He was scared to death the day he arrived, but after a few days of good food and good love, he is already destroying the house as only a kitten can ;). Sorry for the blurry pic, but it’s not easy to photograph such a small moving target! His name is Boris. Our four adult cats are not terrified with the idea of sharing space, food and love with such a ball of cuteness, so by now we have to play with him and educate him until the four witches-bitches accept him – and that means lots of mommy and daddy time each day, plus preparing a special soft meal four times a day to make the weaning transition easier for him.

Also, we had a lot of problems with our bank, which was sending back to Paypal all the money we had been sending since the end of May. I’m sure you all know how dealing with banks is – you have to be a real pain in the ass to them just to get things fixed, and they care very little for the people who do not have six digits businesses. Thankfully be were enough of a pest because they decided to fix the problem – so I got myself a couple of self-inflicted birthday gifts (I will be 34 on July 4) in the shape of some new Tarot cards and a couple of second-hand Witchcraft books for my collections, which have been quite neglected this past year.
And as if that was not enough, my younger brother (younger as in 19 years old) has asked Fernando to start rehearsing with his band. Fernando is an excellent drummer and played in a thrash metal band for six years – being both music lovers, we have always been involved in making music and in the later years he has been learning a lot about instrument making and traditional/folk music – he actually learnt to play the didgeridoo by himself last year. Rehearsing has yet to begin because my brother is right now finishing his college exams, but right after that we will start working on it – very soon there will be r’n'r in this house again! I am very happy for him as he is a natural musician and someone with that talent should always have the way to express himself.
As you can see, it’s been quite a crazy week, full of worry and joy at the same time. I am very glad it is over!

Handsculpted OOAK Pentacle Box
Posted in House Of Eleggua, Talismans / Amulets / Charms, Tools Of The Craft on June 16, 2010 | 5 Comments »
I envision this box in Morgana LeFay’s dressing room, on a table with a mirror, surrounded by perfume bottles, deadly poisons, orris root perfumed body powders, and of course a few talismans and secrets…
This box has been made completely from scratch in papier maché, with a handsculpted lid depicting a pentacle with an inserted moonstone and glass rhinestones in purple and cornflower blue. A completely one of a kind piece, very sturdy but surprisingly light. The piece measures 5,5 cms. tall per 9 cms. wide – that’s 2,1 inches tall per 3,5 inches wide.
Find it at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.
NOTE: Before this post was published the box was sold.

Corn Husk Dolls

Corn husk dolls have been an amulet and a toy for many traditions and countries in the world. These amulets have represented protection, wealth and hex-breaking, depending on its specific add-ons. Using the organic corn husks from Fernando’s parents’ farm, I created these corn husk amulets for your protection. The corn husk pieces are dried after shaping them and then each piece was adorned with faux flowers and leaves, ribbons and vintage mushrooms.
Organic Beeswax Spell Candles

Five 100% handmade beeswax candles for your most exquisite ritual purposes! Starting with pure unrefined organic beeswax from La Guancha (Tenerife) that is sold to us by a friend, and making our own wicks and molds, these 4 cms / 1,5 inches tall candles are perfect for short spells or devotional use.
You can find all these items at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.
