The Weekly Garden Post :)

May 9, 2011 by Carolina González

The perfect evening sky, filled with high, playful clouds. The first heat wave is here already. Time to put plants in the shade and get ready to go back to the beach.

Sage, flowering for the second time this year. We purchased this plant to an organic farmer two years ago as we haven’t been lucky growing it from seed.

This little couple lives under the sage plant – they are souvenirs from the island of Ibiza, dressed in peasant clothes. We found them in the house when we moved and have always lived in one of our pots. They are less than an inch tall.

Catnip, growing wildly as you can see – and not only for cats as many people think. Catnip makes a great digestive and relaxing tea, and can also be dried and smoked to relieve anxiety and nightmares. Can’t say enough good of this plant!

I think I’m making a whole post about it, it has really many properties and we use it a lot :).

I’ve never heard of smoking catnip, does it burn badly?

I don’t know exactly what you mean by “burn badly” – ???

I mean does it hurt your throat terribly?

    • on May 10, 2011 at 7:55 am Carolina González

No, but I guess that depends on if you’re used to smoking other herbs, and of the kind of paper and filter. A good rice paper that doesn’t contain gunpowder and a foam filter is enough to keep herb bits from hurting your throat. Also, it is important that the herb is finely and evenly ground.
