10×13 cms / 3,8×5 inches mini shrines using unique images that I restored and customized in Photoshop CS. The shrine is made in the colours and numbers of Money magick and a special blessing has been casted over all the pieces of this new line of mini shrines.

La Madama is one of the most loved figures in North American Hoodoo; a kind and generous spirit, similar to Cuba’s La Negra Francisca, that helps spiritual workers to get good work, good customers and timely payments. With her broom, she dusts off negativity from your path – who could be a better help for us Etsy sellers?

The Santa Muerte (Holy Death) is a central figure in Mexican brujería – she is not the dark, evil grim reaper, but a loving mother that has a very hard job; thus, she is spoiled with offerings and treated like a protective and generous Spirit. Also, she guards all connections with our Ancestors.

Pomba Gira is the female Exu/Eleggua, and a fierce protector of women – she is asked for help in love matters, but also in business and money spells, as she is also patron of all business women.

Only TWO available of Pomba Gira and La Madama and only ONE of La Santa Muerte – I will keep making more if they sell, but they won’t be exactly the same as I work with a lot of vintage/off production items. If you are interested in getting a custom mini shrine of your deity, please contact me! You can find them at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

The Garden Goddess altar got a good cleanup and a new table on Sunday. The plants around her are Jimsonweed (Datura Stramonium) and White Nightshade (Solanum Douglasii) – you won’t believe it, but we did NOT plant this herbs – they appeared on two different pots as weeds. We have no parks or country around us, so this seeds had to arrive through birds – or fairies. Actually, it is the second year that we have White Nightshade planted by fairies – you can see last year’s plant here.

More candle Magick for a customer. As usual, with Fernando’s handmade candles, which are made specifically for magick work: he braids the wicks from organic cotton cord for an extra powerful flame and adds specific magick oils and perfumes according to the use of each candle.

I finally finished repainting the gnome set I purchased last year – I love them!!!! It was a vintage China bisque set I purchased at Etsy. First, a “before and after” pic of one of them so you can really see how poor the painting job was:

Details of each one:

And finally, a group pic I really liked.

As you can see, it was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it to the last minute of it. I was actually sad to finish it – oh well, now I’ll have to start another project…maybe making a special place for them?

Once again, we went to the mountain of Las Mercedes to give offerings to the spirits of our Guanche ancestors. This time we went to another zone, La Cruz Del Carmen, and took this beautiful pics of the prehistoric forest and the beautiful viewpoint that has been built there. It was really foggy so there was no view at all (LOL), but such a drastic climate change, and the complete loneliness, were such a blessing.

Also, these two new items have been added to The Hoodoo Shop:

Nimue – OOAK Witch Bottle
OOAK bottle for you potions… or poisons! Bejeweled with brass filigree and glass rhinestones, this unique creation measures 6 cms – 2,3 inches without the cork and can hold around 20-25 ml (about a liquid ounce) of your favourite perfume, potion, aromatherapy oils, small curios…I have added a small oxidized brass chain so you can hang it from your bag or belt during outdoor rituals, but I can take it off at no cost if you don’t want it.

Reed Container – OOAK
This year we brought some huge reeds from Anaga and Fernando made this beautiful container for wildharvesting seeds or small treasures like bones, insects, feathers, and any gift Mother Nature is so kind to give a witch during her wanderings. The closure is made with a cork, cut to measure the exact width of the reed, so it fits really well and prevents any small stuff from falling off. Being such a hard material, it may keep your most fragile findings from being crushed in your wildharvesting bag. Fernando carved two beautiful scrolls to add that extra magick touch :). 13 cms/ 5 inches long. OOAK.

Though It is not listed yet, I wanted to show the first pictures of Leviathan, my new OOAK customized doll. Leviathan started with a second-hand 38 cms/14,7 inches porcelain doll, which was completely undressed, de-wigged and all facial features erased – becoming a blank canvas as all my dolls begin with. After that, it took over 160 hours of work that includes full face painting, handsewing and embroidering all clothes, handsculpting the horned helmet from scratch, creating the wig from mohair, and making the braids with different kinds of wool and other fibers. The cape measures 60 cms/ 23,3 inches. The ornamentation includes marabou feathers, resin/glass/brass/vermeil beads and filigree, vintage and new glass rhinestones and vermeil gold chain.

The doll will be sold for 640 $/ 500 € without the stand, and without shipping costs, which I have yet to calculate. If you want a custom made stand, we will be very glad to make it for you, but it would increase shipping costs accordingly. If you are interested in purchasing it, contact me through Etsy or through email at magickshop(at)gmail.com.

The box measures 4×8 cms (1,8 x 3 inches approx.) and is handsewn in olive green leather. The box contains four mini glass bottles with hand drawn tags and purple thread ornaments, each one featuring a magickal animal totem: the crow, the owl, the fox and the goat. The four bottles rest on a bed of beautiful wool in autumnal forest colours. The lid of the box is made of fine arts cardboard, leather and gold paint. The box is presented closed and tied with a natural jute string, in case you want to give it as a gift. The bottles are empty; you can fill them with resins, oils, perfumes, relics, animal bits… it’s up to your imagination!

I am in love with Medieval Witchcraft since I started studying the Craft; figures like Paracelso and Cornelius Agrippa are two of my biggest influences. This mini set is in many ways a homage to that figures, and a reminder of uniqueness as every bit (except the bottles of course) is handmade by us and won’t be repeated. The mix of textures – leather, wool, glass, cardboard – makes this piece tactile, experimental and inspiring for the senses; actually I was seriously tempted to keep it for myself!

I am working on this Djinn cloth doll – here are some pics of the first stage – underwear and shoes finished. I have not started the beading yet (I plan to do that today) and then I will go on to working on a highly detailed brocade velvet coat with an embroidered collar – when it’s finished, it will be the most complex piece I have done to date.

The cloth body was premade – I just painted the hands (one of them sporting a henna tattoo), legs and face. For the clothes, I have used antique laces and netting, hand-dyed brocade from India, hand-dyed silks… thanks to the knowledge and generosity of my dear friend Krista Raak, whom is quite an expert in finding antique fabrics, I have a small collection of precious textiles that I use only on my dolls. ALL the pieces you see here have been handsewn; I don’t like glue on my dolls unless it’s completely necessary.

Now, off to start the beading! Have a wonderful Friday *kiss* !!!

Here are some pics of the new doll I’m working on. She’s about 15 inches tall, and the doll itself was a gift from a friend, who owned it in the early 80′s. I’ve been saving this doll for a special occasion mainly for the GORGEOUS hair, and now a special (but secret yet) occasion has arrived.

Except the parts that were already sewn, everything you see is done entirely by hand. This is what I’ve done so far:

The chemise was made starting with a real newborn undershirt, most likely from the 60′s. The chemise was pleated to fit the doll and adorned with eyelet ribbons. The sleeves were made from scratch, as well as the shoes, made from felt, suede and faux fur and adorned with black ribbon roses (shoes are unfinished yet).

The petticoat was made using the lower part of a traditional Canarian peasant costume, and the corset is being made with embroidered ribbon, gold cord couching and ribbon roses. It is not finished, but I pinned it in place so you could see it.

Still I have ahead the kirt, hair styling, head ornamentation and the jewelry. My husband will also be participating, making a miniature gypsy tambourine for her. Back to work!

As an artist/crafter, one of the Golden Rules I learnt first, and that I’m most faithful to, is that comfort zones are dangerous. There is nothing better to keep your skills growing and evolving is looking for artistic challenges all the time – and there isn’t a challenge I love most than turning something really ugly into something beautiful.
P1010007
I got this crow ornament from my cousin last year. It was part of a Carnival costume, but it had rained on him the night he got out and his wings simply fell off. As you can see in the pic, the feathering is also almost gone. I took him home along with a pair of cheap black feathered wings, also part of his costume. I put both things in a box to protect the feathers and completely forgot about him for almost a year. This month, my husband is preparing a room to make space for the wedding’s guests, and the box with the crow appeared among the incredible amount of garbage that this two ratpacks can hoard, give enough space.
P1010011
The first thing I did after cleaning it was repositioning the legs, cutting them off, re-covering them with masking tape and painting them. After that, I pierced the plastic shape and put the legs much lower, so the crow could stand a little more straight. The rest of the work was simply (painstakingly LOL) re-feathering the complete bird, using the feathers from the costume wings. Each feather had to be cut individually to fit the size of the bird, as they were all to big – six hours later and several hot glue gun burns later, here’s the result!
P1010009
Now I’m torn among two very different ideas about what to do with him. My husband is already in love with it so this piece won’t be for sale ;).

Hoodoo Artifacts Collection: Crow Totem

This collection contains sacred objects for ritual use – a shared effort between me and my husband this time. He carved the pine wood crow skull and I aged it and added the ornaments. The crow’s crown is made of blackbird feathers over a suede baching that flows down to hold three skull beads, as crow are often symbolized as an animal which lives between this world and the world of the spirits. Above the skull, a tiger’s eye gemstone in the shape of a feather adds protection and increases psychic vision. The piece has a hook on the back to be hanged, as is about five inches long, small enough to be used as a pendant during rituals.

The crow is a totem of deep knowledge and dark magic – and I say dark, not evil magick. The crow’s spirit knows what lies in the dark of the cosmos and teaches human witches and wizards to face and embrace their own dark side. It is also a symbol of cleverness, wit and learning, as this is one of the most intelligent birds, known for their ability to use all their resources and create new ways of providing themselves with food and shelter.

This collection explores the art of hoodoo, voodoo and all forms of shamanism. While it is a “usable” object, as spells can be cast over them to have a specific use, they are made with the creative freedom of a piece of art, which
we think is a direct connection with our Divine energies.

Money Conjure Jar Kits – Only TWO available!

The most powerful spell I know for attracting money and wealth – and yes, the one I use for myself. As you can see in the printed page image, that is a picture of my own conjure jar.
In Hoodoo, as in many forms of Witchcraft, jars are wonderful tools for keeping spells – just instead of spell, we say conjure. Filled with herbs, roots and metals, and to be made along nine days, this simple but effective spell is my own recipe to success. Inspired by the knowlegde of two decades of witching – and with the support of continued results.
This kit includes:
- all the herbal elements, powders and oil needed to perform the spell.
- two full-colour printed pages for your Book Of Shadows with instructions on how to perform it. It is a very easy spell that witches of ay training and knowledge can do.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the only elements not added in this kit are a small jar and nine yellow candles. I did not include them because they are very easy to find AND would make the shipping costs very, very high.
Each piece is a One Of A Kind and will not be repeated.

Your can find both items at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.

And as you can see, I already made my first use of Sarah’s witchy package! One of her lovely handdipped candles, chrysantemum flowers (which are a traditional offering for the spirits) and a beautiful chinese jar from a friend, make a gorgeous offering to tell my ancestors that I love them :).
