Nothing like a day in Nature to renew energies! This Witch is back to work :) .

The Tarot evening was as crazy as expected, considering the veil between this world and the world of Spirits is getting thinner by the minute. I had to answer many absurd questions and one particular consultant almost had me turning into an Evil Witch after she (ignorantly) tried to convince me that Witchcraft is not a science – if there is a discussion about Witchcraft that burns me, is that one! My husband said that I didn’t look angry (20 years doing this must help) but believe, I was boiling LOL… thank the Goddess that the reading was short.

On the other hand, I had the pleasure of doing three readings for customers coming from the island of Las Palmas! To think that those three lovely women made the effort to take a ship and cross the sea just to have their readings, is quite a honour! They were so fun and excited as three girls on Christmas – they really made my anger disappear and they were the perfect finish to the Tarot night (because it was half past midnight by then).

We have been asked to do another Tarot Evening on Saturday at the Tea Bar. We were going to be there anyway as they will be having a Halloween Party, so we have accepted. Since the party does not start until 10:00 pm, I will have four hours of work before the party starts. There will be a drag-queen show at midnight, performed by my awesome friend (and doll collector) Farinelli, one of the most talented drags I’ve seen in a long time. There will be pics for sure!

Today I’m taking the day off. After so many readings my brain is blank LOL! Some crafting and a walk with the dogs should bring this Witch back to normal :) .

Our Day Of The Dead Altar

We are quite busy this week – I have Halloween’s Tarot Day tomorrow at the Tea Bar, and as it usually happens along this week every year, everyone wants readings and spells. Spirit activity is incredibly high and I’ve been having quite revealing dreams in the last nights, and have also enjoyed the loving visits of my late grandparents. We will be attending the Tea Bar’s Halloween party on Saturday, if I’m not dead by exhaustion by then LOL – it wouldn’t be the first time that, when Halloween really arrives, I’m so tired after so much witching that all I want is to stay home with Fernando, order chinese food and simply do nothing!

Santeria celebrations on this date are very similar to the Mexican Day Of The Dead. Altars to Iku, Orisha of Death, and Oya, Queen Of Cemeteries, are made and covered with food and alcohol along with pictures of all the loved ones who have passed to the World Of Spirits. Voodooisants celebrate the Fet Gede on Nov.2, being a day for my beloved Baron Samedi – we usually have a meal with him, making a hot-like-hell jalapeño sauce with sweet potatoes, white rice, fried bananas… of course everything is seasoned with rum shots and a good handmade cigar is smoked with him at the end of the meal with a super-sweetened black coffee. Our diet is very similar to the food of the caribbean countries, so it’s nothing out of our regular eating. If we have money, we buy flowers and other offerings like chocolates; if not, we do with just what we have. Usually, we get money for everything weed, let’s say on Nov. 30 – I sell jewelry, make an extra reading, someone needs a quick amulet… living the magickal life means that you see that miracles as something expected, which doens’t make them less of a miracle of course.

I spent the little free time I had on the weekend working on some new polymer clay beads in the shape of african masks and altar fetishes, and experimenting with mold making to be able to recreate the beads – I hope to find a little time every night to work on them, as I have been all summer away from polymer clay (the temperature is simply too hot in the summer to sculpt) and the sculpting itch was awful LOL… here are the first finished pieces, still needing sanding, painting, varnishing… lots of work ahead.

Peppers (delicious!), super-hot jalapeños, and a lovely triple onion that I will add to the Goddess altar on Samhain. All of this was grown in regular plant pots, from heirloom organic seeds from our in-laws own crops, on a roof garden where there is no planting soil at all – a proof of urban gardening that tastes like heaven! The jalapeños will make a gorgeous jar of “Mojo” (pronounced Mo-ho), which is our own tabasco-like sauce -here on the islands, due to our hot and dry weather, we have some of the hottest peppers in Europe! Very soon we will harvest melons, tomatoes are in bloom and there will be a second (and even a third) pepper and jalapeño harvests next month. I love my little magickal garden! Here are some pics I took this morning:

Yemanya’s Palm, growing wonderfully. The palm bulb was brought by a witch friend on Yemanya’s day (Aug 15), and it was nothing but a dry ball of palm root. It took almost a month to see its first leave, and now nothing can stop her!
P1010014
Borage, grown from seed – we didn’t know this would grow so well here, but there’s already another seedling pot growing.
P1010020
Catnip, grown from seeds from the island of Las Palmas, also doing very good and already attracting my witchy cat girls.
P1010021
Peppermint, grown for cuttings from Fernando’s parents, spreading like a plague on every pot :) .
P1010022
Baby Basil, grown from seeds from a friend – love the light in this image!

Our Papaya trees, growing wonderfully after the last transplant. Love the shape of the leaves.

African violets in full bloom – I see a gorgeous violet flower tea in the near future!

Reading
Since we have almost finished all the Tarot room work and our schedules are back to normal (as normal as a Witch’s schedule can be LOL), I have decided to make readings and spellwork available again at The Hoodoo Shop. I have made a new section, Readings And Spellwork, on the shop just for that matters and along the day I will be listing all the services available – be a little patient while I make the listings, I have extra work today since Fernando hurt his back yesterday and I’m doing ALL the housework, gardenwork, petwork and shopkeeping until he’s better – nothing serious, but he’s the kind of person that needs to be forced to stay resting (aaah Tauruses! LOL).
So far, I have listed the three-questions reading and the one-question reading, which are made with regular Tarot decks, but I plan to list other oracles like Animal Totem Guidance, the Fairies’ Oracle and others from my deck collection, as well as all the spell works I can think of – any ideas or recommendations from you will be very appreciated!

Last night we finally finished the Tarot room – of course, the camera batteries died before we had any chance to take pics – these pics are from this morning. There are still a few details to finish, but we have made enough so I can work and read Tarot there. Enjoy the eye candy – today I have an online Tarot reading to make, several spells to prepare and LOTS to finish around the house still. But I can’t leave without saying how much I love the room! So much space and light… the previous “witch room” will be a little and cozy guest room for a friend who’s coming for the wedding from Madrid, and after that we’ll decide what to do with it. I think I’m going to ENJOY witching in this room!

Couldn’t get a wider view because the corridor beside the room is quite narrow – my desk on the right, beside the “supplies” closet, and the sitting area for Tarot on the left.
P1010003
The sitting area for readings – still needs a little more ornamentation of course :) .
P1010009
I’m SO out, that my closet has no doors LOL…

The next twelve customers to purchase at The Hoodoo Shop (digital downloads not included), will receive TWO sample bags from this lot, each one carrying a gemstone charm and a small envelope with a sample of our new incense, Spirit Dancer. One of the samples is for you, the other to give away – we want to give you a gift, and we need you to help us spread the word about our work!

I would also like to congratulate Magaly from Pagan Culture for winning our giveaway at Mrs.B’s 31 Days Of Halloween! Magaly, just send me your email address so I can send you the download link for your BOS set!

Floor Washes

Floor washes are a “must” item in Santeria, Hoodoo and Voodoo – they are completely conspicuous, as nobody will know you have used them, and really clean away the negative energies as they bring new and positive ones. I made these two last night – as soon as they are ready to filter they will be up in the shop :) .
Second Chance Floor Wash

For lovers who are going through a hard time, but still want to have another chance to solve their problems – this potion, made to be used as a floor wash, helps soothing hurt feelings and allows forgiveness and understanding for couples who have been under negative energies. There are many spells to find love, but not so many to repair a broken heart!
Peace After Grief Floor Wash

This floor wash is made to clean away the residual sadness after a personal/family loss. Its herbs bring peace and comfort, allowing its user to relief grieving. The residual feelings after traumatic situations are very dangerous for our spiritual balance, specially if there are children in the house, and should be cleaned regularly – this is an extra powerful formula for situations that need a complete change.

How To Use Floor Washes

- Floor washes should not be used along with chemical soaps, so it works MUCH better if you clean first and then apply the wash. You can do a room at a time, starting on the living room/kitchen for family issues, the bedroom for love issues or the office for money/business issues. If you want to do the whole house at once, start at the farthest room and go towards the entrance, finishing at the entry door of the house.
- Once the room is clean, add a few drops to a bucket of clean water and mop from the bottom of the room towards the door, paying special attention to corners and thresholds on doors and windows. Actually I do both things when cleaning a house.
- You can also add a few drops to a spray bottle filled with clean water – blessed water would be perfect – and spray all over the room, in the same way as in the previous paragraph.
- Smudging with incense and/or lighting a candle, in the corresponding colour for your intention, is highly recommended to get the most of this washes.
- This is very important: throw the left water from mopping OUT of the house! It will gather a lot of negative energy and you don’t want it back inside.

First of all I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who left messages for Baba’s recovery -she’s doing wonderfully and the wound healed quite quick, so she’s back to her frolicking, cat-chasing and being-cute-for-food routine :D .

This morning, I was surprised with an unexpected gift box on the mail from my much loved Amanda from Pandora’s Button Box – ooooh this woman knows how to melt a Witch’s heart! Thanks so much my dearest, I love-love-love every detail – you know me so well! Amanda was my first friend online, three years ago! – we met because I found her skelly dollies and after I commented how much I loved her work, she graciously offered to make a swap as I didn’t have a credit card to buy her one. This is her latest doll, Mariposa Calavera – isn’t she gorgeous???:

Can you believe it’s been three years, my dear Amanda? Everyday I bless the day we met – you have always been the best of friends, and I will never thank you enough for that, no matter how much “mail love” I can send to you!

Today I’m working on some samples for our future customers – gemstone charms and little envelopes to be filled with a herbal incense I will be making tonight. The envelopes are the printing test of the Sabbats And Esbats II Set – aren’t they lovely?
Making samples is something I really enjoy -I love the challenge of making something that has to be small, light to ship, and not too expensive BUT STILL be a beautiful, thoughtful gift. Pics of the finished packaging tomorrow morning :) . Here’s an article I wrote about a year ago about making samples that you might enjoy:
Making Samples – The Importance Of Giving For Your Business

The perfect companion to the BOS pages in the same name; a sheet of tags and mini-tags, a sheet of bookmarks and mini-bookmarks, and a sheet of seed packets, all made from my original designs that celebrate the Wiccan wheel of the year. I want to make my designs useful, and with the small business owner in mind; the tags and bookmarks are wonderful “thank you” gifts for your customers, and the seed packets can be used not only for seeds, but also for herbs, powders, beads and anything you can think of!

You can find this item, and see more detailed images of each sheet, at The Hoodoo Shop at Etsy.
